I’m a huge fan of both Google Reader and Instapaper. I actually dedicate one class of GED3202 to managing information overload and those are two of the tools I introduce students to. I’ll check out HootSuite – TweetDeck is my current choice.

I’m wondering what you think of the new MarkMeHere tool at Algonquin? I’m the developer, and have had great feedback from teachers who have found surprising increases in student engagement, but little feedback from management. Any thoughts from your end?

My how you jump from ship to ship. I hope you are doing well and enjoying your new position at Algonquin. I was talking to the Director of Communications for the Upper Canada District School Board today (that’s where I work now teaching behavioural students) and it got me thinking “How is Mr. Wotherspoon doing?” A quick Google search and here I am.

Take care and I will continue reading your insightful “ramblings.” Finding ways to connect with today’s youth on the ways they learn is really something that can be done with the topics you discuss on your blog. Social networking is a huge one considering it seems that they have a freakin’ cell phone or laptop superglued to them at every possible moment!

That worked for me and I appreciate the fact that the information was available and adapted to my needs. The piece that was missing was the ability to share and discuss. Thanks for providing that Doug.

It looks like the problem has been identified and intent and direction is being laid. The big question that kept creeping up for me was ‘How’. It’s so important to start showing the ‘How’ so staff and faculty will start experimenting and playing.

I’d like to point out the importance of those two words; experimenting and playing. In order to learn, we all have to be given the ok to fail, share and move forward.

Looking forward to launching our Innovation wiki, our Twitter account and blog in the near future.
